Lesson 8: Writing a memoir

Learning intention

We are learning to publish our writing.

Success criteria

I can use my best handwriting and include an illustration in my published writing.

Lesson structure

  1. Model the presentation of the published piece. The published piece will contain:
    • the memoir title
    • neat handwriting that has spaces between words, capital letters and full stops
    • an illustration or photo about the memoir.
  2. The teacher differentiates this task by:
    • supporting students to copy accurately from their edited draft
    • assisting students with pencil grip and letter formation
    • assisting students who require an adjustment to the task (e.g. require the text to be printed for them, require the text to be lightly written and then copied over)
    • assisting with printing of photos (artefacts) to accompany illustrations.
  3. Return to the success criteria. Students self-evaluate their published piece of writing.
