Certificates for Victorian High-Ability Program students

Guidance for high ability practice leaders on how and when to access certificates for their students who have participated in the Victorian High-Ability Program.

Overview

At the end of each term, Virtual School Victoria (VSV) awards certificates to students to acknowledge and celebrate their participation in their Victorian High-Ability Program course.

High ability practice leaders can download these certificates from the Victorian High-Ability Program/Virtual School Victoria Portal (VHAP/VSV Portal) and share them with their students.

Do all students receive Victorian High-Ability Program certificates?

All students who have fulfilled the attendance and participatory requirements of the Victorian High-Ability Program are awarded a certificate of participation. The certificate includes their name, the term and year of their participation, and an overview of the course content.

Students receive a certificate if they:

  • have attended three or more Webex sessions.
  • have attended two Webex sessions and actively engaged with the content in the Learning Management System (LMS).

Students attending fewer than two Webex sessions will not receive a certificate.

When to download Victorian High-Ability Program certificates

Students’ certificates are available to be downloaded by high ability practice leaders from the Victorian High-Ability Program/Virtual School Victoria Portal (VHAP/VSV Portal) in the final week of each term’s program.

High ability practice leaders are encouraged to download their students’ certificates at this time.

Access to previous terms’ programs and the relevant students’ certificates are removed from the portal after one term. For example, in Term 3, a high ability practice leader can download their students’ Term 2 certificates, but not their Term 1 certificates.

Previous terms’ certificates are saved in the Student Excellence archives and can be obtained by emailing student.excellence@education.vic.gov.au, giving the term and year in which the students participated.

How to download Victorian High-Ability Program certificates

To download certificates:

  • Log into the VHAP/VSV Portal.
  • Click on the drop-down arrow in the Term box and select the particular term.
  • The blue icon next to each student’s username is the certificate.
  • Click on the blue icon, download the certificate and save.

If there is no blue icon next to a student’s name, it means that they have not been awarded a certificate. This occurs if attendance or participation requirements have not been met.

See the highlighted Term drop-down box and blue icons in the screenshot below for information on where certificates are located in the VHAP/VSV Portal.
