fka Children's Services provide support to early childhood services and kindergartens to deepen educators' capacity in the provision of culturally competent pedagogy and the ability to engage meaningfully with children and families for whom there is no shared language.
fka can provide customised packages of cultural inclusion support for kindergarten services in order to meet individual needs. Services can decide what level of support they require, in consultation with fka Children's Services. The cost of the packages incorporates design and delivery of a customised package of support, which could include cultural competency, pedagogy and practice support, curriculum design, analysis of structural and operational barriers and home language support.
Customised packages will include a combination of the following activities and/or supports:
- professional Learning
- onsite pedagogy and practice support
- review of policies and procedures
- online training (currently in development)
- home language onsite visits
- facilitating connections to local solutions and service providers
- bilingual library consultancy
- access to the multicultural resource library.
Support packages are priced as follows:
- 5 hours - $1,250
- 10 hours - $2,500
- 15 hours - $3,750
- 20 hours - $5,000
Target population: children, families and educators in kindergarten settings who require support in the area of cultural competency, inclusion and maintaining home language.
Staffing: services should consider the cost of backfill when determining the cost of accessing the training and consultancy elements of this resource.
