    Description

    ​Difficult Conversations is a 1.5 hour presentation that aims to support educators’ wellbeing by building their confidence in observing, understanding and supporting the children they care for and educate.

    Difficult Conversations considers the benefits of collaborative practice with families and allied health professionals. The presentation highlights the importance of understanding and respecting the perspectives of others as the key factor for success. It explores the barriers to and possibilities for collaboration between educators, therapists and families and offers practical strategies to build respectful and trusting relationships with parents and caregivers. The presentation highlights the importance of a shared understanding of children’s abilities, strengths, challenges and interests. A fictional case study is included to help educators see the possibilities and parallels with their own practice.

    Detailed Costs

    ​In-house presentation (up to 10 people): $400 (excl. GST) plus travel and accommodation.

    In-house presentation (up to 20 people): $600 (excl. GST) plus travel and accommodation.

    Online content (webinar ticket, pre-recorded content or zoom meeting just for your team): $40 per person (excl. GST). Minimum of 5 participants for a Zoom session for your team.

    Attendance at conference type in-person event: $80 per person (excl. GST), subject to availability.

    Optional follow-up zoom session to assist the team to reflect on their learning: $150 (excl. GST) per hour.

    For quotes completed from July 2022, travel will be charged at $75 (excl. GST) per hour each way from Castlemaine. Accommodation  will be charged at $200 (excl. GST) per night for any evening bookings, or for any bookings more than 2 hours from Castlemaine.  If you have included the previous lower rates in your plan, please contact the provider to discuss your options.

    Implementation Considerations

    Target population: educators of children in early childhood settings and their families.

    Program adaptability: the presentation can be delivered face-to-face at the service, as a live session online, or as pre-recorded on-demand content.

    Staffing: services should consider the cost of backfill when determining the cost of accessing this resource.

    Supervision/Coaching: there is an optional follow up coaching package to embed reflective practices and strategies.

    Training requirements: all content is designed to be accessible by educators with any level of qualification, as well as family members who may not necessarily be familiar with the early child education specific terminology.

    Tools and systems: internet access is required for the online training.
