Registrations open for Respectful Relationships professional learning

Victoria's early childhood educators will be supported to promote respectful relationships, positive attitudes and behaviours within their integrated teaching approach, to enable children to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

Respectful Relationships professional learning will be available to up to 6000 participants in Victorian Government funded kindergarten programs, starting in September 2018 and progressively rolling out across the state in 2019 and 2020.

Educators will also be trained in strengthening their capabilities on family violence response and referral.

Developed in collaboration with Monash University, the professional learning aligns with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the National Quality Standard. It includes a two-hour online module and a one-day face-to-face workshop, which will cover:

  • understanding and developing respectful relationships in early childhood
  • supporting children to manage emotions
  • supporting inclusive learning environments in early childhood
  • understanding, defining and exploring the dynamics of preventing family violence.

An initial offering of 25 sessions takes place in September and October for educators in Victorian Government funded kindergarten services in Boroondara, Manningham, Whitehorse, Knox, Monash, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges municipalities. Please register now for your preferred time and date.

Further sessions will be available to educators state-wide in 2019 and 2020. Registrations open in November 2018, but eligible participants are encouraged to find out more on dates and venues.
