2021 Skills First contract arrangements
Given the stability and performance of the current Skills First training market, the Department offered one-year Skills First VET Funding Contracts for 2021 to training providers that held a 2018-19 VET Funding Contract (extended to 31 December 2020), without the need for them to participate in a full expression of interest process.
During the current challenges of coronavirus (COVID-19), this decision is intended to provide some certainty and stability for training providers, employers and students as they plan for 2021.
The Department determined not to run an expression of interest process for new entrants to the Skills First training market for 2021.
These VET Funding Contracts apply to students commencing training from 1 January 2021:
2021 Standard VET Funding Contract - Skills First program - version 3
2021 TAFE VET Funding Contract - Skills First program - version 3

These Guidelines describe the requirements that training providers must apply when assessing and evidencing a student’s eligibility for Skills First.
