These guidelines are for school attendance officers.
The stages of enforcement are:
Receive a referral and make enquiries
Send an enrolment notice and assess the response
Decide whether to send an infrigement notice (a fine). Proceedings in court happen as a last resort.
Enrolment laws are set out in the:
- Education and Training Reform Act 2006, as amended by the Education and Training Reform Amendment (School Attendance) Act 2013
- Education and Training Reform Regulations 2007.
