Swimming In Schools (reference 115)

The Swimming in Schools initiative is designed to increase opportunities for students to learn how to swim, and ensure they develop lifelong skills in swimming and water safety.

Swimming and water safety education is embedded across all bands of the Victorian Curriculum (F-10). By the end of Year 6, it is anticipated that students are able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge in the Victorian Water Safety Certificate (VWSC). Schools can seek the assistance of swimming providers to assess the competencies of their students and to award VWSC through the VWSC portal.

The Swimming in Schools initiative provides a funding contribution to schools towards the costs of swimming and water safety instruction, pool entry and transportation costs.

Funding will be distributed through the Student Resource Package.
