Incentive payments for hard-to-staff teaching positions

The next round of hard-to-staff teaching positions have been released. Applications close 30 May

Applications have opened for 250 new hard-to-staff teaching positions in Victorian government schools.

The positions, which attract an incentive payment, are part of the Teacher Incentives Program.

Launched in 2019, the program aims to attract high-quality teachers where they are needed most, such as rural, regional, and disadvantaged schools.

The Department identified schools with the most hard-to-fill positions and invited them to nominate one or more vacancies to receive incentive funding.

These incentives include an initial payment as well as annual retention payments at the end of the second, third and fourth year of employment. Relocation costs for regional and rural positions are also available.

So far, 190 teachers have joined the program.

To apply for a hard-to-fill position, refer to Recruitment Online (select role type 'Targeted Financial Incentive'). Applications close Sunday 30 May.
