Acquire the knowledge and skills to support every student to succeed in literacy learning.
Registrations are open for the 2019 Learning Difficulties including Dyslexia professional learning program. The program gives teachers the knowledge and skills to support every student to succeed in literacy learning.
Unpack learning difficulties in a full-day workshop
The program is a full-day workshop. The Department has commissioned and developed the workshop in partnership with La Trobe University.
Literacy experts will lead the workshop, and will build teachers' capacity to complete student assessments, interpret data, and implement appropriate interventions.
Supplementary live-streamed webinars will be available later in 2019 to further build the capability of teachers and school staff. The 45-minute after-school sessions will look closely at particular skills required for literacy learning. The webinars will be live-streamed and made available post-delivery via YouTube.
Funding and attendance
The fully-subsidised, department-funded workshops are appropriate for school leaders, primary and secondary teachers from mainstream and specialist schools, visiting teachers, and student support services officers.
Casual relief teacher funding for two teachers per school is available to assist schools with teacher participation in the workshops.
