Transition Learning and Development Statements training

Register for a webinar on 6 September 2022 to learn how to use the statements to support children in their transition to school

Prep teachers are invited to a free webinar to help children transition to school using Transition Learning and Development Statements (TLDS).

Early childhood services provide TLDS to schools to support children's transitions to school and give them continuity in their learning. The statements:

  • summarise a child's interests, skills and abilities
  • identify individual approaches and teaching strategies to support each child
  • share information about a child's learning, development and wellbeing between early childhood services, schools and out-of-home care services (where applicable).

The department is providing the webinar for new teachers or teachers who would like to refresh their knowledge of TLDS. A recording of the webinar will be available on the Professional learning to support transition to school webpage in early Term 4, 2022.

Early childhood and school transition experts will run the session, covering:

  • key features of a positive transition to school
  • using TLDS for planning and practice
  • using a strength-based approach
  • involving children and families
  • planning for Term 1, 2023
  • the importance and benefits of play-based and inquiry-led learning.
