Express interest now in a Bastow course to build leadership skills to suit your career stage
Teachers at all levels are invited to plan their leadership development and express interest in a Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership career stage course in 2022.
Bastow's program of career stage courses are designed to develop and expand teachers' capability and capacity as leaders, whether in anticipation of a first official leadership appointment or a move into principalship.
'Bastow's programs allow you the opportunity to explore and strengthen the leadership you've demonstrated across 2021, whether it's been leading teaching and learning, wellbeing, or school operations,' Bastow Interim CEO Kate Morris said.
Bastow-commissioned research from 2019 shows Bastow leadership program graduates are four to five times more likely to be promoted to the next leadership level within four years.
Teachers are encouraged to explore Bastow career stage courses outlined below and learn more about the ones they are interested in, by clicking on individual course links. Course duration, cost and delivery mode differ for each course.
Expressions of interest can be submitted through individual course links.
Applications for each course open on various dates. Bastow will notify all those who express interest in a course when applications for that course open.

Inspire: Local leaders
For teachers with up to five years' experience, this course provides potential leaders with the foundational capabilities required for school leadership.

For teachers and leading teachers who have recently accepted school leadership responsibilities, this course focuses on key school leadership proficiencies and provides practical strategies to improve the effectiveness of school leadership.

For teachers who are in a formal or informal leadership role or leading a team of colleagues, Create supports middle leaders to develop and lead teams within their school.

Connect is a professional leadership program designed to support assistant principals with key elements of their leadership role.

Unlocking potential: Aspiring principals
Unlocking potential is designed for aspiring principals who have a minimum of five years' teaching experience and are working towards their first principal appointment. This course develops the professional knowledge, capabilities and confidence to lead learning improvement and school transformation.
