VET professional development for secondary school teachers

Applications for the 2 opportunities close in November

Secondary school teachers are invited to register for 2 upcoming professional development opportunities on delivering vocational education training (VET).

The Industry Connect Program and Professional learning for VET Trainers will each help you to deliver VET training that meets Registered Training Organisation (RTO) standards.

Each program will run over multiple online sessions in terms 3 and 4, 2022.

Casual relief teaching funding will be available to support participation in each program.

Industry Connect Program

The Industry Connect Program has been designed for teachers of VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VDSS) to keep their industry knowledge, skills and practices current.

The program will also help teachers extend their professional networks. It includes:

  • an online professional learning community, supporting VET teachers and trainers to connect with each other and navigate industry trends
  • industry-led forums for each of the VET core priority pathways and flexible pathways
  • VET core offering masterclasses, supported by industry experts
  • a tailored coaching and mentoring program
  • attendance at the VET Development Centre's (VDC) Teaching and Learning Conference (Thursday 17 to Friday 18 November 2022).

These free online sessions will be held on weekdays during terms 3 and 4, 2022, at various times and durations, between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm.

This program is funded by the department and delivered by the VDC.

Professional learning for VET trainers

This program will improve your knowledge of vocational education and training delivered in the school context, relating to 5 streams:

  • VET trainers and school leaders engagement
  • Understanding and engaging the adolescent learner
  • VET training and assessment
  • Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) sessions
  • VET within secondary schools.

These free online sessions will be held on weekdays during terms 3 and 4, 2022, at various times and durations, between 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. 

Participants will need to commit to a maximum of 36 hours over approximately 5 months. You can attend any or all the sessions in the program.
