Apply to teach one of the 48 languages offered, with sessional opportunities now available across Victoria
Victorian government school teachers are encouraged to apply for a sessional teaching vacancy at the Victorian School of Language (VSL).
The VSL offers languages other than English that students are unable to study in their own schools.
Classes are held outside school hours and are taught at over 40 campuses around Victoria.
Teachers are paid at a sessional rate determined by the department. Every year, teachers will be paid for 30 sessions of four hours and two sessions of three hours.
Applications are also open for a limited number of non-teaching positions, including:
- assistant supervisor
- teacher librarian
- administrative (clerical) officer.

The VSL currently offers: Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Chin Falam, Chin Hakha, Chin Matu, Chinese, Classical Greek, Croatian, Dari, Dinka, Dutch, Filipino (Tagalog), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Karen, Khmer, Korean, Macedonian, Malay, Malayalam, Maltese, Mizo, Pashto, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Sinhala, Spanish, Swahili, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Urdu and Vietnamese.

There is no closing date for applications. Each application will be kept for 12 months and considered when vacancies arise.
