Registrations are now open for new literacy professional learning commencing 12 August
If you've been deliberating about what literacy professional learning to do in 2020, consider the Essentials of Literacy Local Leaders course.
Created in response to coronavirus (COVID-19) and student learning needs, this new online course is an alternative to previously scheduled Literacy Local Leader intakes in 2020 and will help you to improve literacy outcomes for your students.
The Essentials of Literacy Local Leaders is the perfect introduction to Bastow's
Literacy Suite and a springboard to the more comprehensive Literacy Local Leaders course in 2021.
The Essentials of Literacy Local Leaders is fully subsidised for each government school participant. There is no casual relief teaching funding available.
This course explores pedagogical and literacy practices that underpin high-impact literacy teaching and is delivered over five 90-minute webinars. The webinars will focus on:
- the gradual release of responsibility model
- the Workshop Model
- authentic literacy and student agency
- balanced assessment
- planning and integrating your literacy teaching.
These will be followed by a virtual workshop delivered by literacy master trainers in a network setting, with a focus on further unpacking the learning and what it looks like in the school context.
This course is designed for a Foundation to Year 8 context.
Literacy leaders, teachers and graduates with responsibility for or a desire to expand their knowledge and experience of literacy instruction should participate.
