Apply now for the Design2Innovate course for middle leaders and
classroom teachers, held across Victoria from July
Registrations are open for Design2Innovate: introduction to design thinking, a three-day professional learning course to help teachers support students to become collaborators and creative problem solvers and have a voice in their education.
The three-day course supports middle leaders (lead teacher, subject coordinator or those who have responsibility for or experience in curriculum change) and classroom teachers to become more confident in using design thinking to enhance:
- classroom practice
- teaching and learning programs
- leadership practice.
The Department's Tech Schools Branch has developed the course in partnership with Bastow, Tech Schools, teachers, and international design thinking experts.
During the course, teachers will learn about:
- design thinking, its phases and operation, and its application in practice
- how to integrate design thinking into classroom practice
- how design thinking may be implemented more broadly at their school.
Teachers will hear from colleagues sharing their experiences of using design thinking and the kinds of changes they have made and seen as a result, both in the classroom and across their school.
Participants will also produce a project, lesson, or unit of work for the classroom using design thinking, which will be tested with their students and showcased to peers in the course.
About the course
Design2Innovate is delivered as a mix of face-to-face learning and online support.
Teachers will attend three sessions throughout July, August and October. The first sessions will be held at:
