Financial help for parents

You can get financial help with living and child care costs if you meet certain criteria.

Help with living costs

Sometimes families find their circumstances change suddenly and they are unable to quickly access employment opportunities that fit with their new family responsibilities.

The Federal Government has a number of programs available to help families who find themselves in financial hardship. To find out more about Federal government income support and other types of assistance, visit the Department of Human Services website.

Help with child care and kindergarten

The federal (Commonwealth) government runs child care subsidies. To find out if you are eligible, visit their assistance with child care fees page.

Help with kindergarten fees

The Kindergarten Fee Subsidy is available to families who have certain concession cards, visas or documents. Visit how much does kindergarten cost to learn more.

Early Start Kindergarten is free or low cost kindergarten for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children, or children who have had contact with child protection.
