Workers' Compensation Policy Guide

Schools can now visit the Policy and Advisory Library (PAL) for this information. This page will remain in this location but will be for corporate staff only. School staff should use PAL for all policy, procedures and other operational information.

The purpose of this Guide is to provide the policy background to the workers' compensation claims management advice contained in the Department's Workers' Compensation Management Manual by outlining:

  • The legislative basis and key features of the Victorian WorkCover scheme
  • The legislative background and key legal obligations associated with the management of workers' compensation in schools
  • Entitlements associated with workers' compensation applicable to the Department's employees
  • The Department’s arrangements and support infrastructure for the management of workers' compensation in schools
