Salary Packaging - Public Service

Salary packaging (also known as salary sacrificing) enables employees to determine the combination of salary and optional benefits that will constitute their salary package.

Participation in a salary packaging arrangement is voluntary.  Public Service employees who choose to salary package may include up to 100 per cent of their remuneration within their package.

The elements of the salary package are:

  • salary
  • taxation
  • additional superannuation
  • a novated lease of an approved motor vehicle
  • private health insurance
  • mobile phones expenses
  • computer (notebook and laptop only)
  • membership fees and subscriptions to professional associations
  • home office expenses
  • financial counselling fees
  • disability/income protection insurance
  • self education expenses
  • any administration costs applicable

Employees seeking to commence a novated lease of an approved motor vehicle should visit VicFleet for information on the Victorian Government’s Motor Vehicle policy.

Employees who wish to salary package additional superannuation should complete the entry directly on eduPay Employee Self Service (see further information links below).  For access to other optional benefits, employees should contact SmartSalary Pty Ltd.
