​​Free telephone, video and on site interpreters are available for eligible early childhood services.

We have a contract with the Victorian Interpreting and Translation Service (VITS) to provide interpreting services. All interpreters are qualified and accredited.

Foundation House has developed the following tip sheets to support work with interpreters and families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and refugee backgrounds: 

Eligible services

Eligible services who can access VITS include:

  • all Department funded early childhood services who do not receive direct funding for language services
  • all Victorian government schools see interpreters for government schools​
  • support services funded by the Department.

Telephone interpreters

VITS also provides a telephone interpreting service that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Telephone interpreting may not be appropriate in some circumstances or if an interview is likely to be longer than 60 minutes.
