Universal funded Three-Year-Old Kindergarten is creating job opportunities in regional Victoria for early childhood teachers.
This reform, to give Victorian children another year of high-quality learning before starting school, launched in six regional local government areas this year. It kicked off a decade-long roll-out that will create more than 4000 additional early childhood teacher roles and 2000 additional early childhood educator roles across the state.
Early childhood teacher incentives of up to $9000 were provided to teach in the first roll-out areas of Yarriambiack, South Gippsland, Buloke, Hindmarsh, Northern Grampians and Strathbogie.
Roll-out in 2021
Incentives will also be available for early childhood teachers relocating to teach in the 2021 roll-out areas.
In 2021, three-year-old children in the following 15 council areas will have access to up to 15 hours of funded kindergarten each week.
- Central Goldfields
- East Gippsland
- Southern Grampians
- West Wimmera.
