Encouraging kindergarten participation in diverse communities

Help spread the word about kindergarten to families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

A new suite of resources have been translated into Chinese, Somali and Vietnamese to help spread the word about the importance of kindergarten, and how to access it, to families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

Early Childhood services are encouraged to visit the Kindergarten for CALD children web page to order free print materials (posters, brochures and postcards) and share them, and the videos, within the wider community.

The web page has been created to help promote kindergarten to CALD families and includes information on:

  • why kindergarten is important
  • what happens at kindergarten
  • how cultural identity is respected at kindergarten
  • how to enrol.

Resources on the web page were developed as part of the CALD Participation Project. The project aims to improve kindergarten participation in and attendance at kindergarten within Victoria's CALD communities.
