What a beauty! Chisholm students take out top awards

​Chisholm Institute students have taken home the top spots at the highly regarded Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Association (HBIA) Student, Apprentice and Educator Awards.

Held on 19 November 2018, the annual awards ceremony saw 21 students from Chisholm nominated across all categories. Almost half took home the coveted awards, including:

  • Certificate III in Make-Up – Georgia Thomas
  • Certificate IV in Screen and Media (Specialist Make-Up Services) – Elena Sticca
  • Diploma of Screen and Media (Specialist Make-Up Services) – Julie Taylor
  • Certificate III in Beauty Services (full-time) – Georgia Lean
  • Diploma of Beauty Therapy – Emma Long
  • Certificate III in Barbering (full-time) – Clay Jeans
  • Certificate III in Barbering (Apprenticeship) Stage 1 – Harley James Campbell from Barber Town Men's Grooming, Endeavour Hills
  • Certificate III in Barbering (Apprenticeship) Stage 2 – Jarvis Harp-Wilks from New York Barbers, Berwick
  • Diploma of Beauty Therapy (Encouragement Award) – Stephanie Freeman
  • Certificate III in Hairdressing (full-time) (Highly Commended Award) – Fiona Jowett

The awards are designed to recognise excellence and celebrate students and educators who show a high level of enthusiasm for the industry. Recipients are considered informal ambassadors to the hair and beauty industry, playing an important role in its future.

General Manager of Services and Creative Industries at Chisholm, Vicki Tuchtan, said she is very proud of the award nominees and winners, many of who have had to overcome major challenges to undertake their studies.

'To have their efforts recognised by their industry peers is pure joy, and a true testament to their passion and determination. Our educators also need to be recognised for their commitment, professionalism and high calibre of training they deliver, inspiring their students to chase their calling.'
