Year 12 student, Stephan Mitzeliotis, shares his experience of getting the COVID-19 vaccine and his plans for the future
Year 12 student and School Captain at McKinnon Secondary College, Stephan Mitzeliotis, recently had his first Pfizer vaccine as part of the final year secondary school student vaccination blitz.
Stephan was keen to roll up his sleeve and get the jab as he knows that it's the best way to protect himself, his friends and his family from COVID-19.
'I had no hesitation in making an appointment and getting the vaccine. I went to my local GP, had a discussion with him and then received the vaccination. The whole process was quick and easy,' Stephan said.
Stephan, like so many other Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) students, wants to return to the classroom as soon as it is safe to do so and believes vaccination is key to this.
'We've missed a lot of time at school, and I want my last few weeks of my school life to be spent in the classroom with my mates,' he said.
'That's why I'd say to every year 12 student who can safely get the vaccination, to just do it!'
Stephan is looking forward to life returning to 'normal' in the not-too-distant future and hopes to attend university next year, with the eventual goal of becoming a pilot.
