Schools and swim schools are being encouraged to deliver fun, creative and innovative programs as part of Water Safety Week.
It's a positive way to deliver a serious message — that teaching children to be safe around water can save lives by reducing the number of drownings in Victoria.
Water Safety Week, an initiative by public education campaign Play it Safe by the Water, will be held from 30 November to 6 December.
During Water Safety Week, artwork of an adult and child duck who are always together will support the message of constant adult supervision around water. The ducks will carry water safety messages in line with the broader water safety campaign.
School and swim school competition
Life Saving Victoria has asked schools and swim schools to promote fun Water Safety Week programs. Schools or swim schools demonstrating innovation, a wide community reach and sharing the key message of supervision will go in the draw to win equipment vouchers to continue delivering effective water safety programs into the future.
For more information, read the
Water Safety Week webpage on the Life Saving Victoria website.
The competition will run from Monday 30 November to Monday 14 December.
