TAFE course empowers disability champion John

For disability and human rights advocate John Gee, a career in disability support was made possible with TAFE.

John is currently completing a Certificate IV in Disability Support at The Gordon. He says he loves the course and he believes he will thrive working in the sector.

When he's not studying, John also works as a presenter. With projectABLE, a free school program led by people with disabilities and the National Disability Service, John delivers workshops and talks to secondary schools and disability support providers.

John has OCD, anxiety and depression, and he believes sharing his experience with others helps to break down barriers and myths.

'I want people with disabilities and mental illness to feel empowered and to know they can do the same things as others,' John says.

John's career goal is to work with adults in the mental health space.
