Spectacular in the country

Excitement is mounting for students in the country who are busily rehearsing for the Victorian State School Spectacular and their chance to perform in the big city.

The Spectacular team recently visited Shepparton to lead students from Guthrie St Primary School, Echuca East Primary School and Pyalong Primary School in mass dance rehearsals.

'I'm excited because we're only a small country town two hours away from Melbourne, so to have them come out here - it's exciting,' says Guthrie St school student Matilda.

Guthrie St Primary School teacher Steph O'Brien says for sports-dominated country schools, the Victorian State Schools Spectacular is a chance for students with an interest in arts to have 'their moment in the spotlight.'

'A lot of them don't get the opportunity to dance out of school here, so this is their opportunity to have a go of that and they're just loving every moment of it.'
