TAFE makeup students inspired by the world of wigs and Halloween makeup got a chance to showcase their skills with the Victorian State Schools Spectacular.
Victorian State Schools Spectacular took ten TAFE students behind the scenes to try out their hairstyling and creative special effects makeup skills at their annual promotional photoshoot.
The partnership between TAFE and the Spectacular provides a unique industry networking opportunity and gives students firsthand experience of working on a high-profile photoshoot.
VU Polytechnic student Jaidyn Kemp says it was a great opportunity to see how makeup is done for a production/shoot and how to work in a group environment.
VU Polytechnic and Chisholm Institute courses provide hands-on industry based learning opportunities for students ensuring they graduate ready for the world of work.
TAFE can provide these learning opportunities and more. Find a training course or provider.
The Victorian State Schools Spectacular
Victorian State Schools Spectacular brings together over 3,000 school students to perform as a 74 piece orchestra, 1300 voice choir, 1100 mass dancers, 33 lead vocalists, 16 principal dancers, 20 ensemble dancers, 9 backing vocalists, acrobats and puppeteers and much more.
The inclusive Spectacular program supports the Victorian Government's Education and Creative State objectives by demonstrating students' excellence in the Arts.
Over months of training, the program fosters student engagement and educational outcomes by developing creative and expressive capacities, building confidence, resilience, discipline and a sense of belonging.
The culmination of the event performance to a wide audience builds pride and confidence in our schools. The three-hour, live show is watched by an audience of at least 5,000 people per show and is also recorded for broadcast on Channel Seven. The Spectacular is on Saturday 15 September at Hisense Arena.
