Children's Week

Celebrate Childrens Week, 20-28 October 2018

Children's Week is a national program recognising the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.

The 2018 theme is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child: Article 12 - children have the right to say what they think should happen and have their opinions taken into account.

Children's Week in 2018 will be held from Saturday 20 - Sunday 28 October 2018, where hundreds of activities attract thousands of Victorian families across the state.

Children's Week highlights the terrific work educational services and community groups do in Victoria and is supported by The Department of Education and Training.

During Children’s Week, local councils, organisations, schools and early childhood services organise a range of open days, displays and special events that celebrate childhood and showcase children's achievements.

All Children’s Week events are offered free-of-charge to Victorian families with children aged 0-12 years. This represents a great opportunity for Victorian families to enjoy a fun, engaging and educational experience at minimal expense.

Children's Week Grants

Local councils and not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply for a Children’s Week Grant of up to $1000 to contribute to the cost of hosting a Children’s Week activity.

To apply for a grant and to have your activity promoted as part of the official calendar of activities, please complete an online application form

Applications close at 5pm on Friday 7 September and no late applications will be accepted.

Successful applicants will be notified in late September 2018.

Grants will be assessed against a range of criteria in determining the allocation of grants. Priority will be given to activities in local government areas that are experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage. Full Children’s Week Grant guidelines are available on the application form.

Please note that schools, early childhood services and for-profit organisations are ineligible to apply for a Children’s Week Grant.
