Legislation administered by the Minister for Families and Children

​The following Acts of Parliament are administered by the Minister for Families and Children.

Adoption Act 1984:

  • The Act is jointly and severally administered with the Attorney-General

Carers Recognition Act 2012:

  • The Act is jointly and severally administered with the Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing and the Minister for Mental Health

Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005, Children’s Services Act 1996, Children, Youth and Families Act 2005:

  • The Act is jointly and severally administered with the Attorney-General

Commission for Children and Young People Act 2012, Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997:

  • Part 5A (this Part is jointly administered with the Attorney-General, the Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing and the Minister for Mental Health)

(The Act is otherwise administered by the Attorney-General, the Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing and the Minister for Mental Health)

Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, Victorian Children's Services Act 1996:

  • The Department of Education and Training (the Department) is the designated regulatory authority under the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, the Victorian Children's Services Act 1996, and their respective associated regulations, which has been delegated to the Quality Assessment and Regulation Division (QARD).

Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010,  Education and Care Services National Law (Victoria),  Education and Training Reform Act 2006:

  • Section 1.1.3(1) (this section is jointly and severally administered with the Minister for Education, the Minister for Training and Skills and the Minister for International Education))
  • Sections 2.5.3(2)(ab), (ib), (ic), (p)(ii) and (tb) and section 2.5.3(5) (these provisions are jointly administered with the Minister for Education)

(The Act is otherwise administered by the Minister for Education, the Minister for Training and Skills and the Minister for International Education)

MacKillop Family Services Act 1998, Pre-school Teachers and Assistants (Leave) Act 1984, Sentencing Act 1991:

  • Subdivision 4 of Division 2 of Part 3 (these provisions are jointly administered with the Attorney-General)

(The Act is otherwise administered by the Attorney-General, the Minister for Corrections and the Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing)

State Concessions Act 2004:

  • The Act is jointly and severally administered with the Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing

State Trustees (State Owned Company) Act 1994:

  • Part 4 (this Part is jointly and severally administered with the Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing)

(The Act is otherwise administered by the Treasurer)
