Make a complaint or report an issue

We aim to deliver high quality advice and services to the people of Victoria. We welcome your feedback both positive and negative. Your feedback can help us improve our services.

  1. Make a complaint

    Find out how you can raise a complaint or learn about the steps involved in the process toward resolution.

  2. Report fraud or corruption

    If you have knowledge or reason to believe a departmental employee, contractor or service provider has been involved in fraudulent or corrupt conduct.

  3. Report abuse

    If you have experienced any form of abuse as a student at a Victorian government school, we encourage you to report this behaviour.

  4. Make a freedom of information request

    ​​You can access documents held by the Department by submitting a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI).

  5. Give feedback about this website

    Help us improve the website by reporting a problem or suggesting an improvement we can make.


Telephone advice lines

The Department has a number of dedicated telephone lines that can assist you to get the information you need. Explore the advice lines available to you below.

  1. The Department's coronavirus (COVID-19) hotline

    You can ask questions regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) and schools by calling 1800 338 663, 8 am to 6pm, 7 days a week (excluding public holidays).

  2. Maternal and Child Health Line

    Guidance from MCH nurses on nutrition, breastfeeding and family health for children from birth to school age.

  3. Parentline

    Phone counselling service for parents and carers of children and teens.

  4. TAFE and Training Line

    Get referrals to courses from TAFEs, training providers and Learn Locals.

  5. The Department's main switchboard

    If you know the name of the person you want to contact, you can be connected through the Department's main switchboard.

Historical records to 1954 are now located at the Public Record Office. This includes:

  • correspondence and building files (primary, secondary and technical schools, former education department, teachers’ colleges etc.)
  • school history files and publications
  • historical teacher, staffing and establishment registers
  • pupil registers and rolls (only a limited collection)
  • scholarship registers
  • textbooks
  • education photographs.
