Learning and Teaching Support

This section contains links to web sites, online resources and tools that provide learning and teaching support for teachers.

Websites

DigiLearn (http://www.education.vic.gov.au/digilearn) - The new way teachers can access and download The Learning Federation’s learning objects and digital resources. Teachers are now able to search online by keyword or browse by Domain to discover hundreds of different digital learning resources.

Artful Thinking (http://www.pz.harvard.edu/tc) - Assists students in developing thinking dispositions that support thoughtful learning across domains. Artful Thinking has six interrelated components: The Artful Thinking palette, thinking routines, works of art, curricular connections, visible thinking, and teacher study groups.

Building Learning Power (http://www.buildinglearningpower.co.uk/blp/What_is_BLP.html) - ‘Building Learning Power’ centres around how teachers can help young people to become better learners, both in school and out. It is about creating a climate or a culture in the classroom - and in the school - that systematically cultivates habits and attitudes that enable young people to face difficulty and uncertainty calmly, confidently and creatively. Below are case studies from two schools implementing Building Learning Power.

Exploratree (http://www.exploratree.org.uk) is a free web resource where you can download, use and make your own interactive thinking guides. Thinking guides can support independent and group research projects with frameworks for thinking, planning and enquiry.

Thinking Skills (http://www.aaia.org.uk/curriculum/currThink.asp) - The UK based Association for Achievement and Improvement through Assessment (AAIA) web site provides links to other sites and materials concerned with thinking skills.

Visible Thinking (http://www.pz.harvard.edu/vt) - Underpinned by a sustained research and development process in classrooms, Visible Thinking is a flexible and systematic approach to integrating the development of students' thinking with content. It aims to cultivate students' thinking skills and dispositions, and deepen content learning through practices and resources. An overview of this site is provided in the Visible Thinking Reading Guide (PDF - 31Kb).
