Science Continuum P-10

The Science Continuum P-10 – is an evidence-based resource to assist teachers to support student progress through the VELS Standards. The Continuum provides teaching approaches that support all students to achieve a sound understanding of key scientific ideas. Linking expert practice and research, the Continuum explores students’ ideas based on their everyday experiences, the age-appropriate scientific view, critical teaching ideas and teaching activities.

12 new focus ideas have been added to the Science Continuum P-10! These ideas address issues of teaching electricity, the nature of science and Earth science, among others!

 

Victorian Essential Learning Standards

Introduction, learning focus statements and standards for the Science domain  - provides the introduction to the domain, the learning focus statements and standards for Science.

Standards and progression points for Science Levels 3–6 - lists the standards and progression points for the Science domain for Levels 3–6 and beyond.

Energising Science and Mathematics Education

Energising Science and Mathematics Education in Victoria is a suite of actions which, together, are designed to interest more students in mathematics and science education, lift their achievements in mathematics and science and assist their teachers to provide engaging, innovative learning experiences in mathematics and science. The actions, which build on current initiatives, focus on:

• improving infrastructure
• support strategic partnerships
• build workforce capacity, and
• expand resources to support a contemporary curriculum.
