Connect - Includes unique environments for teachers, primary and secondary students. Users can search for websites, images, video and audio with all resources tagged according to audience. Topic lists of websites are clustered under the VELS.
DigiLearn - The new way teachers can access and download the Learning Federation’s learning objects and digital resources. Teachers are now able to search online by keyword or browse by domain to discover hundreds of different digital learning resources.
Digital Portfolio
During 2006, all schools were sent copies of the Digital Portfolio DVD. It contains example portfolios, templates and planning guides for the development of student portfolios.
Advice for schools on the development, monitoring and reporting of personal learning goals (Word - 581Kb) - Designed to assist teachers with the process of supporting students to develop and monitor learning goals. Building Learning Power (http://www.buildinglearningpower.co.uk/blp/What_is_BLP.html) - ‘Building Learning Power’ centres around how teachers can help young people to become better learners, both in school and out. It is about creating a climate or a culture in the classroom - and in the school - that systematically cultivates habits and attitudes that enable young people to face difficulty and uncertainty calmly, confidently and creatively. Below are case studies from two schools implementing Building Learning Power.
Learning to Learn – Accelerated Learning in Training and Education (http://www.alite.co.uk/products/l2.html) - The Learning to Learn approach to learning and development involves placing the learner at the heart of the experience. The challenge is to help move the learner from dependence towards independence. The program does this by combining engaging learning experiences with a coherent learning model and explicit outcomes.
PoLT – Classroom vignettes
The PoLT Online Professional Learning Resource contains a number of classroom activity snapshots (vignettes) which focus on particular stages of learning and explore the Principles in action within the Personal Learning domain.
Assessment for learning resource (http://www.aaia.org.uk/assessment/assessment.htm) - produced by a group of teachers in the north east of England. The content focuses on the multifaceted ways of encouraging and enabling teachers to use assessment to promote and monitor learning for the benefit of the pupils. The web site provides various online resources and publications.
