Learning Diversity Resources

The range of learning and teaching resources available reflect the diversity of the local community and its education needs.

 

English as a second language (ESL)

ESL - Support materials for teachers, including curriculum and publications, an online library and links to ESL organisations.

New Arrivals - Details the New Arrivals Program that provides access to intensive English as a second language (ESL) tuition for between six to twelve months to newly arrived students from language backgrounds other than English.

Refugee Student Support - Information and resources to help support students from refugee backgrounds in schools, especially those with disrupted or no previous schooling.

Interpreting & Translating - Details the language services available to assist schools communicate with parents from language backgrounds other than English.

The ESL Developmental Continuum P–10 provides indicators of progress for each Stage and dimension of the ESL Standards, to support the assessment of students who are learning English as a second language. Teaching strategies are also provided to assist teachers in the development of effective learning programs for their ESL students.

 

Gifted education

Gifted Education - Policies and resource materials for all aspects of schooling, designed to meet the educational and social development needs of gifted and high-potential students.

 

Koorie education

Koorie Education - Wannik, from the Gunai/Kurnai language meaning, ‘Learning Together- Journey to Our Future’ is the Department of Education and Early Childhood Developments’ new Education Strategy for Koorie Students in Victoria. The overarching principle of the Government’s strategy is about delivering the best possible education to Victoria’s Koorie students. 

 

Students with disabilities

Program for Students with Disabilities - Strategies and tools to help school leadership teams and teachers improve learning and teaching practices for all students, including those with disabilities.

 

Equity Guidelines

Equity Guidelines - provides advice and support for schools regarding the most effective use of funds to improve outcomes for higher needs students.
