DEECD professional learning

ePotential ICT Capabilities Resource - an online tool created for Victorian teachers to assist teachers to develop their ICT Capabilities. This resource identifies and supports the ICT professional learning needs of teachers, guides eLearning Planning and links to multimedia resources showing models and videos of classroom practice. It includes a Continuum to help you rate yourself and reflect on your ICT Capabilities. You can explore teacher and student work samples and advice, as well as professional learning resources.

Regions - eLearning and ICT professional learning opportunities for teachers and leaders are available in regions around Victoria throughout the year. You can choose to a seminar, workshop or presentation on eLearning Planning, using interactive whiteboards for learning, podcasting or wikis and blogs, among others. You can also access a range of eLearning sessions specifically organised by the region itself.

ICT Peer Coaching - forty Victorian schools participated in an ICT Peer Coaching Pilot. These schools investigated strategies to transfer and build teaching knowledge and expertise within a school. A range of resources and templates were developed and adapted, including an ICT Peer Coaching Manual.

Professional associations

VITTA: Victorian Information Technology Teachers' Association -  supports information technology teachers at primary schools, secondary colleges and universities in Victoria. The VITTA website has details of awards, training and resources, including curriculum support.

ATOM: Australian Teachers of Media Victoria - an independent, non-profit, professional association for teachers of media and teachers who wish to use media effectively in their classroom. The web site provides information and teaching resources including: lesson plans, workshops, awards, and media mentoring programs.

ICTEV: ICT in Education Victoria - provides support and leadership to all educators using ICT in teaching and learning. The web site provides information on events, membership, ICT support and publications available to teachers.

Professional learning providers

Cybersafety Outreach- Professional Development for Educators - an Australian Government national cybersafety program delivering free, interactive, one-day professional learning sessions for primary and secondary level educators across Australia. 

Multimedia

Visual Communication Victoria (VCV) - promotes the continued development and growth of visual communication and provides support to teachers and students. The VCV website provides lists of resources, conference details, professional development seminars and an online version of the VCV's magazine.

Australian Centre for the Moving Image - dedicated to exploring moving image production (cinema, television etc.). This website has a learn section for teachers and helps you locate education events, student programs, teacher programs, educational resources and study guides.

Other resources

Virtual Conference Centre - lists the Department's free, current and upcoming Professional Learning events that you can register for and participate in online. Directions for participating in these events are available here.

Pdi - the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) search facility for professional development courses and services, including ICT professional development. You can locate many relevant ICT professional learning opportunities through Pdi.

Online Training - access to a variety of interactive modules in a self-paced training format, including training in Microsoft Office and Cases 21, through your Edumail login and password. The Microsoft Office training is comprehensive and includes MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, MS Word and other applications. See also: Professional Learning
