Virtual History Project

Teachers from eight schools were involved in the Virtual History Project. Each school was responsible for compiling up to 10 minutes of video footage that focused on classroom practice and drew on material from at least one chapter from Making History ― A Guide for the Teaching and Learning of History in Australian Schools (http://www.hyperhistory.org).

In essence, the project aimed to develop teacher professional learning through the distillation of key elements of teaching history. The medium was film.

The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) provided a session in film-making and supported preliminary editing of the raw films.

A DVD, Making History Come Alive (PDF - 710Kb), was the final product of the project. The DVD was accompanied by teaching notes and distributed to all Victorian schools in September 2007.
