This section provides information about the role of Reading Recovery Teachers, Tutors and Trainers.
Teachers
The
series of Reading Recovery lessons lasts for up to 20 weeks, or until the
student has developed effective strategies for independent learning, and can
participate in classroom literacy activities with minimum help. During a
Reading Recovery lesson, the teacher demonstrates and teaches problem-solving
strategies and supports the student to develop effective reading and writing
processing.
Tutors
and Trainers
A Reading Recovery Tutor’s role includes teaching of
students, training and monitoring teachers and participating in professional
development activities. A Reading Recovery Trainer’s role includes initial and
ongoing professional development for Reading Recovery Tutors, coordination of
the collection of the end-of-year data and review of relevant research.
