Literacy Professional Learning Resource

The Literacy Professional Learning Resource is for all classroom teachers to deepen their understanding of literacy.  This will inform their planning for literacy learning and assessment for all domains of the VELS.  It will also assist literacy leaders in schools to plan opportunities for professional learning for the whole staff, in professional learning teams and/or for individual teachers.

Australian Association for the Teaching of English (AATE) National Conference - the theme for the 2011 AATE Conference is “Finding a place for Falstaff: Language and Creativity in the Australian English Curriculum”. It will provide an opportunity to explore and celebrate the creative potentialities of an Australian English curriculum which meets the needs of students in the 21st century. The conference is organised by VATE, the Victorian Association for the Teaching of English, and will be held from 3-6 December, 2011.  View the complete conference program and register at VATE.

Australian Association for Teachers of English - The national arm of Australian state and territory associations for the teaching of English. The web site provides resources for English teachers, including policy papers, journals, news and events as well as general information about AATE.

Australian Literacy Educators’ Association - ALEA Victoria provides professional development for teachers and works with members to achieve the best possible literacy learning outcomes for all students. The web site provides information on the State Executive, local Councils, university awards and the Victorian conference. Primary English Teaching Association - One of the largest and most successful organisations for primary teachers in Australia. PETA is committed to the ongoing development of online support to teachers and other educators. This web site contains teaching resources, information about membership, professional learning opportunities, children’s book reviews, news and events.

Reading Recovery Council of North America - A not-for-profit association of Reading Recovery professionals, advocates, and partners . This web site provides information about Reading Recovery, research into this area, and information about implementation.

Victorian Association for the Teaching of English Inc - VATE supports and maintains the quality of the teaching of English in the State of Victoria. The web site provides information on professional development, teaching resources, student revision days and conferences.
