Speaking and Listening at level 1.5

This series of speaking and listening videos are presented to support teachers to make consistent and accurate judgements of students’ progress in speaking and listening, against the speaking and listening dimension of the English Victorian Essential Learning Standards. The videos depict student-teacher interactions, which highlight typical student behaviours that reflect the speaking and listening standards and progression points. They may be viewed to generate professional conversations about student learning and to report on student progress.

Can recount and describe familiar experiences in logical sequence

 

 

Can communicate with others in small group situations

 

 

Can clear speech with simple phrases and sentences, and appropriate vocabulary

 

 

Can apply listening skills to a range of conversations, discussions and spoken texts; about real or imagined events

 

 

Can recall what others say and answer questions about details of what has been said
