Victorian Association for Teachers of English (VATE) (http://www.vate.org.au) - A professional body established to promote the interests of English education and to allow English educators in Victoria to exchange ideas. It brings together post-primary teachers in government, Catholic and independent schools, as well as tertiary educators and education students.

Australian Association for Teachers of English (AATE) (http://www.aate.org.au) - The national arm of Australian state/territory associations for the teaching of English.

Australian Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA) (http://www.alea.edu.au) - Dedicated to the improvement of literacy development and language learning at all levels. It provides support and professional development to educators and others interested in literacy and communication through international, national, state and regional conferences, workshops and seminars, journals, position papers and other publications.

Australian Science Communicators (ASC) (http://www.asc.asn.au) - A national association of more than 400 journalists, editors, engineers, educators, and communicators dedicated to the clear communication of science and technology. state and territory chapters hold regular meetings and organise a range of events.

Communication (http://www.sasked.gov.sk.ca/docs/policy/cels/el2.html) - This document, produced by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Learning in Canada, articulates the Ministry’s rationale for incorporating communication into the curriculum. It also describes the role of the teacher and strategies for engaging students.

Ockham’s Razor: The Communication of Science (http://www.abc.net.au/rn/science/ockham/stories/s111790.htm) - Communication takes place in a context. This discussion between noted science communicator Robyn Williams and Professor Chris Bryant from the Australian National University, examines some of the issues around communication in the science arena.

State Library of Victoria (http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/schools) - The School Services unit at the State Library of Victoria caters specifically for the needs of the Victorian educational community. The web site provides information on services for teachers, VCE resources and programs and events for students.
