Student Reports - Written Comments

Written comments and A-E ratings

A-E ratings relate to bands of achievement and there will be many different patterns of achievement that will underpin any one overall rating for a domain. Written comments on achievement, and on strengths and areas for improvement, provide the more detailed information on the specific patterns of achievement at the dimension level that underpins an overall domain rating.

Written comments from parents

This section of the student report card was included to enhance the partnership between home and school and to encourage parents’ involvement in their student’s learning.

Placing the parent comment section on a separate page of the student report card template is one way of addressing the issue of returning documents.

Advice on writing comments

For advice on writing clear, consistent and comprehensive comments, see: Student Reports - For teachers.
