The following teacher resources and advice support schools in the implementation of multicultural education policies and programs. Resources include website links, projects and organisations available to provide information, advice and curriculum materials.

Resources Centres

  • Languages and Multicultural Education Resources Centre (LMERC) is a statewide, specialised resource centre supporting curriculum development and programs including LOTE, ESL, Studies of Asia, multicultural, values and human rights education.
  • Free Kindergarten Association (FKA) (http://www.fka.com.au/1/1.htm) - the FKA Multicultural Resource Centre is a state-wide specialist resource centre that provides advice, consultancy, training and resources to promote quality early childhood education.

  • Global Education Website – provides curriculum material that is of high professional standard, is attractive, teacher friendly; and accessible.

  • Cyberschoolbus (http://www.un.org/Pubs/CyberSchoolBus) this United Nations site provides teachers with key dates for global events, conference dates, quizzes and games, publications and data enabling the promotion and investigation of global issues.
  • Multicultural Pavilion (http://www.edchange.org/multicultural) provides educators with information about theory and teaching practices to promote Multicultural Education.
  • Education Network Australia (edna) (http://www.edna.edu.au) – promotes the benefits of technology for education and training. The events page lists all the major commemorations and celebrations related to a culturally diverse community. This is a useful resource for teachers interested in promoting cultural diversity through events and celebrations.

  • Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) (http://www.sbs.com.au) - provides access to SBS productions and links to videos, podcasts, radio and sporting events.
  • The Australian Football League (AFL) multicultural program (http://www.afl.com.au/Development/Multicultural/tabid/10286) aims to assist migrant and refugee communities to take an interest and participate in AFL as a player, fan or game official. The AFL Multicultural Unit is able to assist schools to encourage participation of all students.
