Multicultural Policy for Victoria 1997

Multicultural Policy for Victoria 1997 advocates school practice and strategies that are culturally inclusive. The policy recognises that multicultural education permeates all aspects of school life, and requires an holistic approach to curriculum that promotes respect for, and understanding of, a culturally diverse community.

A review of the 1997 Multicultural Education policy is in progress to take into account the relevant legislation including

  • Multicultural Victoria Act 2004
  • Racial and Religious Tolerance Act 2001
  • Victorian Charter for Human Rights 2006.
