The following publications are suitable for primary and secondary ESL students with disrupted schooling.
ESL students with disrupted schooling may have had little or no education comparable to the Australian experience. They may have little understanding of school organisation or expectations. They are often new to literacy and need considerable support.
The video informs teachers about the backgrounds of learners with disrupted schooling and how this may affect their social and academic behaviour. The program also informs administrators about a whole school approach to meet the needs of these learners.

Refugees make up a significant number of the 4500 new arrivals enrolling in Victorian schools each year. This video has been produced to assist schools and teachers to better understand refugee students, and to suggest ways in which they can assist them in the settlement process.

The support materials for Not a Matter of Choice – Information about refugees for schools and teachers aim to assist teachers to run professional development sessions based on the video. Facilitators can choose from a range of activity options according to the school situation and local need. Suggested procedures for the facilitator as well as background notes are provided.
