Students learning English as a second language (ESL) are a significant group of students in Victorian government schools, making up around 15% of all students in metropolitan schools.
On arrival in Australia, ESL learners are able to access the New Arrivals Program which provides intensive full time programs or targeted support to assist with the initial stages of learning English. ESL students learning of English is further supported by ESL programs in mainstream schools.
This section of the website provides information about the range of services and resources available to the teachers and parents of ESL students in Victoria.
