ePotential ICT Capabilities Resource is an online tool created to help Victorian teachers develop their ICT Capabilities.This resource is designed to identify and support the ICT professional learning needs of teachers, to guide eLearning planning and to link to multimedia resources showing models and videos of classroom practice. ePotential ICT Capabilities Resource Continuum - find where you are on the continuum and explore the practical, learning and teaching resources including teacher and student work samples, advice for getting started and professional learning resources.
eLearning and ICT Showcase - shows how to integrate ICT into learning and teaching effectively. Currently there are 14 showcases highlighting innovative and effective uses of ICT in learning in early, middle and later years including ePlanning, Interactive Whiteboard, 1 - to - 1 and Digilearn showcases such as the Science, Mathematics and LOTE showcases. You can find video footage, student work, comments from teachers and other resources.
Knowledge Bank Online Events - The Department's online events program offers learning and professional development opportunities and seminars/events for Victorian educators organised around a free online virtual classroom space. Participants only need internet access and a microphone headset to participate in events or conduct their own virtual meetings, saving on travel and time and allowing educators to access experts worldwide. Information and training in using virtual classrooms is provided on the website.
Catalyst: Changing Teacher Practice – a program designed to develop effective practice in and strategies for learning, teaching and change management to improve student learning outcomes. Research findings from the program will be made available across Victorian schools. Catalyst schools develop and share curriculum resources, as well as tools to monitor and evaluate change in teacher classroom practice.
ICT Peer Coaching - in 2007, forty Victorian schools participated in an ICT Peer Coaching Pilot. These schools investigated strategies to transfer teaching knowledge and expertise within a school. The Intel® Teach Program - a range of online and face to face extended professional learning opportunities to assist teachers to design learning sequences for effective learning with ICT in a 21st Century context. Intel® Teach supports the online design of inquiry driven, student-centered curriculum that is aligned with Victorian curriculum standards and pedagogy.
Regions - DEECD ICT professional learning for teachers and leaders takes place in regions around Victoria throughout the year. Regional seminars, workshops and presentations include topics such as eLearning Planning, Interactive Whiteboards, Podcasting or Blogs. Cybersafety Outreach- Professional Development for Educators is an Australian Government national cybersafety program delivering free, interactive, one-day professional learning sessions for primary and secondary level educators across Australia.
Multimedia
Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) is dedicated to the exploration of moving image including cinema and television. The ACMI website has a special section for teachers that includes details of education events, student programs, teacher programs, educational resources and study guides.
Soundhouse provides professional learning to help you create dynamic, interactive multimedia products and integrate technology effectively into learning and teaching. In 2009, Soundhouse will run sessions on video documentaries, digital story making and movie-making, music-making, interactive whiteboards and elearning resources, animation and podcasting among others. Visual Communication Victoria (VCV) promotes the development and growth of visual communication and provides support for teachers and students. The VCV website provides lists of resources, conference details, professional development seminars and an online version of VCV's magazine.
Edna for teachers - is an Australian-based professional learning collection for teachers including discussion lists, professional development opportunities and professional associations. Pdi - is the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) search facility for professional development courses and services, including ICT professional development. You can locate many relevant ICT professional learning opportunities through Pdi.
Online Training - the Department's online training website gives you access to a variety of interactive modules in a self-paced training format, including training in Microsoft Office and Cases 21, through your Edumail login and password. The Microsoft Office training is comprehensive and includes MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, MS Word and other applications.
ATOM: Australian Teachers of Media Victoria - is an independent, non-profit, professional association for teachers of media to help you use media effectively in their classroom. The web site provides information and teaching resources including: lesson plans, workshops, awards, and media mentoring programs.
ICTEV: ICT in Education Victoria - provides support and leadership for educators to integrate ICT into learning and teaching effectively. The ICTEV website has information on professional learning events, on ICT support and ICT publications available to educators.
VITTA: The Victorian Information Technology Teachers' Association - supports information technology educators in primary schools, secondary schools, including at later years, and universities in Victoria. The VITTA website has details of awards, training and resources, and curriculum support.
