Regional and Specialist Training Fund

The Victorian Government wants to ensure all Victorians are able to access high quality training that meets industry skills needs, grows economic productivity, and leads to jobs.

The Regional and Specialist Training Fund (RSTF) is a targeted funding stream under Skills First to help meet regional industry and local community training needs across Victoria.

RSTF is designed to respond to industry-led demand for specific skills in regional and specialist areas that are not being met by the current training market. The fund will meet:

  • Localised employer needs in regional Victoria (Regional).
  • Specialised occupations of economic significance to Victoria (Specialist).

This funding will enable students to access training to meet local industry demand and specialised occupations.

RSTF will provide funding where there is a strong connection between industry, training and job outcomes.

At this stage, application to RSTF is only following direct approach by the Department to identified providers, based on analysis of skill needs across the state.

Training providers and key stakeholders may also provide feedback to the Department for a course from the Skills First Funded Courses List to be considered for regional or specialist funding through the RSTF inbox:
