LLENs and Other Networks

Young people making the transition from school to work can benefit from support from a wide range of sources. Schools have an important role to play, but are able to draw on support from other organisations and programs.

Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs)

LLENs help improve education, training and employment options for young people from 10 - 19 years. They have a particular focus on assisting those at risk of making poor transitions from compulsory schooling to the next stage of their lives and careers. LLENs have operated from 2002. From 1 January 2010 the School Business Community Partnership Brokers program in Victoria is delivered through the LLEN initiative funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments under the National Partnership on Youth Attainment and Transitions, a joint initiative of the Australian and State and Territory Governments.

For more information about the purpose, operation and achievements of LLENs, see LLENs online

Regional Youth Commitments

Regional Youth Commitments (RYC) are a framework negotiated within and between all local and regional stakeholders to link and coordinate pathway and transitions support arrangements for 15-19 year olds.

For more information, see Regional Youth Commitments

School Focused Youth Service

The School Focused Youth Service (SFYS) aims to strengthen the support for 10–18 year old vulnerable children and young people by facilitating partnerships and coordination of services between schools and community service organisations at a local level. These partnerships facilitate the identification of key issues and the development of innovative strategies to address service gaps for vulnerable children and young people. Brokerage funding can be used to purchase services to meet those gaps.

Regional Youth Affairs Networks (RYANs)

Regional Youth Affairs Networks (RYANs) bring together community members, youth service providers, young people and all levels of government with an interest in improving the lives of young Victorians.
