safe@work User Guide - Accessing the Test Online

Students can access the multiple choice tests from the menu or the student guide.

How to sit the General and Industry Assessments

Before starting any of the tests, students must enter their first and last names, and their school or training organisation (as they wish them to appear on their final Award of Attainment). This personal information is only used for the purpose of printing awards, and is deleted from the server when the session is terminated.

There are separate tests for the General Module and each Industry Module. Students select the module they wish to complete from a drop down list on the test page.

Once the student has entered his or her details and clicked the 'Start Test' button, the site will generate 16 questions. The questions are randomly generated so no test is ever the same.

Students must complete the test in one sitting as there is no facility to save a partially completed test.

Completing the test

To complete the test students simply select one of the four options available for each question. If students wish to change their answer they can do so at any time by selecting a different option.

The reset button at the bottom of the screen enables students to clear the test of all their previous answers, should they wish to begin again.

Submitting the test

Once students are satisfied with their answers they can click the 'Submit Your Answers' button.

Students who do not achieve a high enough score will be prompted to try the test again.

Students who attain over 75% will be shown their score and directed to print their 'Award of Attainment'.

The 'Award of Attainment' should be printed on A4 paper in Portrait, not Landscape mode.

How long will the Award of Attainment be valid for?

Awards of Attainment for the General and Industry Modules are only valid for twelve months.

If twelve months or more have elapsed since a student satisfactorily completed the General and Industry Modules and the student wishes to undertake work experience in the same industry, the student must complete the Review Module and redo that Industry Module.

If a student is planning to undertake work experience in a different industry, the student must satisfactorily complete the Review Module and the Industry Module relevant to that industry.
